Armando Pedroso
I am self-taught artist, who has recently given over my corporate energies to pursue my career as an artist full-time.

My works are a unique mixed media of colorful acrylic paint, roofing tar, plaster, copper, rust and crushed rocks that engage the viewer in an almost a 3 dimensional perspective. The bold, strong nature of my work combines these lushly textured surfaces to produce a unique and seductive aesthetic.

My process begins with a blank canvas that has hidden in it an image yet unknown to me. As the canvas unveils itself, I begin to layer it in roofing tar, plaster and other mediums covering it completely. From this point, the abstract image is created and built up medium such as copper and more plaster. When I use the copper medium, all pieces are hand cut and molded into shape, painted and or fired then adhered to the canvas creating various sections of the work. This total process time varies with each creation as it encompasses approximately 15 steps per canvas to complete.

On a conceptual level, my works represent an exploration into my soul with the desired outcome to “let go” and allow my soul to live and express itself by taking risks with these different mediums. It is my dream realized late in life, that this new artistic journey has helped me uncover the union between my mind, heart and soul.  It is my hope that I can share this same revelation/experience with others through my art, so they too can be bold, and take the risks necessary to live the dreams that beckon them. I truly believe that your dreams are telling you who and what you are destined to become, all you need is a little faith.
